Spain Yoga + Culture Retreat Packing List
I have put together this helpful packing list for you to consider when packing for your trip!
Keep in mind if you will be checking a suitcase or bringing everything with you on the plane. Look at how much checking your bag will cost and make a decision that is best for you. Keep in mind there are some things that you can’t bring into the passenger part of the plane with you, like sharp objects or larger bottles of liquids.
The temperature range where will be in Spain is low 40’s at night and up to the 60’s during the day so it’s best to pack with layers in mind as well as clothing for warm and cool moments. Don’t be afraid to wear the same clothing multiple times, I’m sure I will be. No matter what the temp is I’m sure it will be much preferable to what’s going on here in February!
Listed below is a general packing list, everything might not be applicable to you
Passport
Cell phone (you can use wifi at the retreat center, look into what your phone service provider has for international calling plans)
Cell Phone Charger
USA to Europe outlet adapter (share with your roommate, take turns charging your phone)
Cash - I usually bring $200 in USD just to have in case.
Debit Card - Don’t forget to tell your bank that you will be traveling overseas.
Credit Card(s) - It’s best to have multiple ways to pay for things in case something doesn’t work for whatever reason.
Journal + pen
Book(s) to read
Reusable water bottle
Travel Pillow
Eyemask
Earplugs
Toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, body oil/moisturizer, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste)
Any medication you need or commonly use
Tweezers
Small scissors or pocket knife
Baby wipes
First Aid Kit
Face Mask that covers mouth + nose
Underwear + socks
Clothing for Yoga
Clothing for Hiking
Clothing for sightseeing, dinner in town, Flamenco Show (see note below)
Clothing for lounging, relaxing, bed
Bathing suit just in case its warm enough for a dip in the pool
Purse, bag, fanny pack for personal items
Footwear for hiking
Footwear for sightseeing + going out
Outerwear, light jacket
While this is a yoga retreat and I encourage you to be comfy, I recommend bringing at least 1-2 “nice” outfits for when we go into town for exploring, excursions, dinner, etc. Americans tend to dress more casual in public than Europeans do and we want to be respectful of local culture. Nothing super fancy but bring what you would wear for a nice dinner out or an evening out with friends.
My Packing Plan
I usually check a bag so I’m not lugging a suitcase around but checked bags look to be around $75 each way so choose what is best for you.
Once I check my suitcase I travel in the airport with a backpack and fanny pack.
The fanny pack holds my wallet, passport, and phone. This is super helpful as you need to show your passport and boarding tickets (you will print them at the airport) to multiple people as you go through security and board the plane. I love having all of those important items connected to my body and right in front of me, easy unzip + zip back up when I need to. Also avoids panic of where did I put my passport?!
The backpack holds a few more comfort items. These items are also included in the big list above, not in addition to it. My backpack holds:
books to read
journal + pen
phone charger
eye mask + ear plugs
travel pillow
hand + lip moisturizer (for me this is an herbal salve)
any medication you will need while traveling
reusable water bottle (you can fill it up in the airport and on the plane so you don’t have to buy overpriced water)
extra socks, underwear, and change of clothes (I get super sweaty and clammy when flying, yuck!)
toothbrush + toothpaste, deodorant
baby wipes or disinfectant wipes
face mask
